Why I Started Leafy Lovin...

I wasn’t always a plant person.

In fact, I kinda hated them. I didn’t get the appeal, thought they were all too hard, and pretty much every plant I bought in my early twenties ended up… well, crispy.

Then I moved to Sydney after ten years in the UK. I didn’t know many people yet, and one day my partner casually said;

So I did.

Aaaand fast-forward seven years… I’ve got two dogs, 300+ plants, and somehow an entire YouTube channel helping other people do the thing I thought I was hopeless at.

But let’s be clear.. I wasn’t some instant plant expert. I killed plenty in the early days. What actually changed things for me was realizing that plant care isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about noticing. About learning where a plant comes from. What kind of light it actually wants. What too much love (aka overwatering) looks like.

And maybe that’s what kept me going. I love figuring things out. Always learning something new. Possibly ADHD. Definitely curious.

So Leafy Lovin was never about being the plant police. It’s about sharing what I’ve learned, laughing at the chaos, and giving people the confidence to grow whatever kind of plant life makes sense for their space.

Even if it’s just one plant on one shelf… and a dream.
